Last week I took six days to travel to Merritt BC to volunteer at Basscoast 2015. I am so thankful I did because it was such an amazing experience. Being part of the set up and seeing the growth of the structures, art projects, and stages added a whole new feeling to the trip. The festival was filled with 3000 attendees and almost everyone had costumes. On a early walk home from one of the stages, as the sun was about to rise, I saw a sleeping camp that had put a table of free fruit for their camp neighbors and people passing by. Pounds of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas and apricots. It is not only the owners, organizers, managers, musicians, volunteers, artists, vendors, or security that make festivals like this sand out, but the attendees. New friends and so many hugs. Thank you Basscoast for the memories and for experiences that have influenced my personal growth.
